Strategic leadership in investment management and philanthropy

Lance DiLorio

Transformation begins and succeeds through curiosity, trust and determination. Acting on this belief, I have led strategic change at a Fortune 500 investment manager, a major national philanthropy, and in my own community with new American entrepreneurs.

Where I am now

I lead strategy and operations at Stand Together Foundation, a national philanthropy backing roughly 350 community organizations across the United States. I joined in 2023 to lead a multi-year transformation, and now operate the business it produced. We rebuilt the leadership team, redesigned the operating model, reduced the expense base by nearly half, and posted the highest partner satisfaction scores in the Foundation’s history. Today the Foundation runs as a focused social-sector investor organized around eleven thematic investment portfolios.

Fieldform Advisory is a practice I am building around strategic transformation for corporations and nonprofits navigating their most consequential moments — clarity for leaders, momentum for organizations. Through it I build on nineteen years as an executive in asset management, with regular engagements through expert networks on topics including global asset management operations, ETF acquisitions and integration, advisory-service procurement by asset managers, and wealth and brokerage platform partnerships.

I also provide pro bono strategic and operational consulting to American Revival, a traveling festival of hope and connection created by filmmaker Nicholas Ma. Each gathering pairs national and local artists — Yo-Yo Ma, Keb' Mo', Valerie June and Arrested Development among them — with a call to “be the helper,” moving audiences from curiosity to commitment through shared experience and service. Recent stops in Tennessee sold out on weeknights. I have been part of the conversation since the idea's earliest form in 2021.

Vice President, Strategy

Led a multi-year transformation of strategy, operations, structure and culture, and now operate the business it produced. Repositioned the Foundation from a collection of broad, experimental programs into a focused social-sector investor organized around eleven thematic investment portfolios, with responsibility for all staff and resources supporting roughly 350 nonprofits nationwide.

  • Architected and executed a complete business model redesign — new vision, four-component strategy and a systematic investment discipline — while building a high-performing culture of empowerment, transparency and career development
  • Reduced the annual operating expense base by ~45% while achieving a >30% headcount reduction and reinvesting in priority talent
  • Delivered the highest partner satisfaction in the Foundation’s history through the transition — NPS of 80 with zero detractors at the 2026 flagship summit, against a 70+ “world class” benchmark
  • Rebuilt and streamlined the leadership table, retired the organization’s largest legacy function in favor of an investment-analyst model, and established a culture of focus, collaboration and accountability
  • Realigned the entire program portfolio — ending underperforming initiatives, transitioning legacy investments and shared capabilities to the broader enterprise, and concentrating resources exclusively on high-impact social entrepreneur development
